摘要: Abstract Rural community participation in scientific knowledge production processes has become a central component of research and development policy practice internationally. However, relatively little is known about the factors that influence successful partnerships applied natural sciences, as well their associated outcomes. This paper presents an in-depth case study community-researcher resource science partnership Canadian Arctic. The results suggest both context process-related were important to partnership, including funding performance assessment processes, leadership capacity at level, proposal design strategies, timing perceived transparency dissemination. Researchers local stakeholders also strongly valued informal interactions are often not part process sciences. “idle time” spent facilitated networks friendships played role building human social capital all stakeholders. outcomes strategies used by those involved numerous went beyond more tangible financial benefits, such legitimizing systems parties aiding integration mutual understanding.
