The inhibition of lactate dehydrogenase A hinders the transcription of histone 2B gene independently from the block of aerobic glycolysis

摘要: Most cancer cells use aerobic glycolysis to fuel their growth and many efforts are made selectively block this metabolic pathway in by inhibiting lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA). However, LDHA is a moonlighting protein which exerts functions also the nucleus as factor associated transcriptional complexes. Here we found that two small molecules inhibit enzymatic activity of hinder transcription histone 2B gene independently from glycolysis. Moreover, observed silencing reduces cell replication, hence suggesting inhibition can affect proliferation normal non-glycolysing dividing cells.
