Response of African American and Caucasian women to cognitive behavioral therapy for PTSD

摘要: The present study examined the influence of ethnicity on effectiveness cognitive behavioral treatment for PTSD in female victims sexual and nonsexual assault. Ninety-five women with chronic (60 Caucasian 35 African American) were randomly assigned to either active or wait list control. Active consisted nine, twice-weekly, individual sessions prolonged exposure, stress inoculation training, a combination. Independent evaluations conducted at pretreatment, posttreatment, 12-month follow-up. Americans Caucasians did not differ terms pretreatment psychopathology general functioning, dropout rates from treatment, overall efficacy. These results are discussed within context need future exploration ethnocultural factors PTSD.
