摘要: Fungal infections largely caused by Candida species are responsible for a significant disease burden in neonates and invasive candidiasis hospitalised has high associated morbidity mortality. Early initiation of antifungal treatment improves outcome but the recognition diagnosis systemic fungal infection this population is difficult due to non-specific clinical presentation false negative rate cultures. There need practical, sensitive rapid diagnostic test enhance identification early treatment. Serum detection (1,3)-β-d-glucan PCR promising candidates at present limited data exists their use neonatal intensive care setting. Until such investigations validated, on basis risk factor profile features remains safest practical approach.
