Scaling up single-wall carbon nanotube laser annealing: effect on electrical resistance and hydrogen adsorption

摘要: Carbon nanotube (CNT) performance is highly sensitive to crystallinity and purity. These parameters are generally maximized capitalise on the outstanding intrinsic properties of these 1-D nanocarbons. This presents challenges from their synthesis, through manipulation, up inclusion in final product. Many can be addressed fine-tuning yet CNT handling processing (e.g. dispersion) often incurs unavoidable damage, with consequent drops purity, thus overall performance. Laser annealing stands out as a contactless, fast localised treatment, capable drastic healing purification. We previously demonstrated near-full recovery substantial processing-related damage SWCNTs, applying very local (μm) laser radiation. Here, we scale-up our findings 103-fold entire as-produced samples (mm), confirming previous recrystallization purification, extend scope excellent correlation non-trivial, ca. one-third, electrical resistance hydrogen adsorption, at double thermogravimetry-based
