摘要: The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence healthy Haemophilus influenzae (Hi) pharyngeal carriers in a representative sample Catalonian school population, as well factors associated. A two-stage cluster sampling carried out. Parents were given questionnaire collect information on sociodemographic and epidemiological variables. swab performed children when informed consent by parents, cultured chocolate agar with 260 μg/ml bacitracin. Of 1212 studied, 316 (26%) H. detected: 5 (0.4%) serotype b, 1 (0.08%) c, 6 (0.5%) e, f, 299 (24.7%) non-typable. Age, gender geographical location only variables associated carrier status. non-typable similar that studies out other countries, while b remainder capsulates, lower than described previous studies. These data are accordance low incidence disease observed our context, although possibility vaccine coverage may have affected results cannot be dismissed.
