Single stage proctocolectomy for severe ulcerative COLITIS. Comparison with less extensive surgical procedures.

摘要: Abstract Fifty patients with severe ulcerative colitis were submitted to major colonic resections during a fifteen year period. Thirty-six had single stage ileostomy and proctocolectomy one early death (operative mortality 2.8 per cent). Fourteen multiple procedures: usually ileostomy, abdominal colectomy rectum left in place as the first stage. There two deaths this group 14 cent) later deaths. Second abdominoperineal resection of because recurrent has been necessary seven ten survivors group. This retrospective study validates continued advocacy both elective emergency management colitis. An impressive degree rehabilitation obtained every patient after successful proctocolectomy.
