摘要: Coherence theory is used to analyze the statistical properties of ocean‐acoustic intensity fluctuations measured after saturated multipath propagation. Previous analyses in this area have been implicitly limited certain special cases for which time‐bandwidth product field received from a given source unity. In paper, description extended and generalized be function measurement time temporal coherence. As result, well known 5.6‐dB transmission loss (TL) standard deviation Dyer found case more general TL that approximates 4.34 sqrt(1/μ) dB when μ large. Therefore, approaches zero increasing μ, as it must deterministic limit an arbitrarily large sample size. A similar generalization obtained mean, sonar equation corrected μ‐dependent bias vanishes μ. Additionally, asymptotic analysis shows statistics region converge log‐normal distribution, where μ≳4 typically sufficient approximation made.
