摘要: Background and Aims The frequency of bacteremia during ERCP with cholangioscopy has not been well studied. There are no formal guidelines regarding antibiotic prophylaxis before cholangioscopy. aim was to estimate the subsequent infectious adverse events after Methods This prospective nonrandomized study performed in a single tertiary referral center included adult patients who were undergoing cholangioscopic examination common bile duct. Blood cultures drawn from procedure 5 30 minutes procedure. Antibiotics given or Patients followed up 24 hours 1 week for events. primary outcome rate, secondary outcomes cholangitis rate Results Fifty-seven enrolled 60 procedures performed. first each patient considered analysis, thus we 57 this analysis. Postprocedure seen (8.8%; 95% confidence interval, 2.9%-19.3%). Four readmitted (7.0%). Bacteremia more had biopsy sampling compared without ( P  = .011). Cholangitis significantly than those negative blood culture  = .035). Conclusion is associated 8.8% 7.0%. Preprocedural antibiotics may be cholangioscopy, especially if tissue acquisition expected. (Clinical trial registration number: NCT01673269.)
