摘要: This chapter focuses on Local Grassroots Associations (LGAs; usually referred to simply as GAs; Smith 2000), beginning with issues of definition. LGAs are termed here micro-associations by Smith, the Handbook’s first editor. have also been dark matter nonprofit sector (Smith 1997c), and below radar organizations (Soteri-Proctor 2011), because they often overlooked difficult find, sample, study. LGAs, oldest type NPOs dating from 10,000 years ago 1997b; see Handbook Chapter 1), found in every contemporary society all earlier societies, properly studied, seeking a very wide variety goals. They discussed terms their life cycles, purposive analytical types, external linkages, internal structures processes, leadership management, prestige power, impacts. There is strong evidence that growing global prevalence, based broader, ongoing processes such population growth, increasing formal education, economic development, civil liberties, other long-term trends (Schofer Longhofer 2011; Shen 2002).
