It is argued that limited literature testing causality between and tourism does not consider appropriate variables. study utilises bilateral data 16 UK tourist destinations order to test Granger expenditure. imports, exports total are tested separately, whilst controlling real GDP exchange rates. The novelty this variable specification, as well causal relationship case outgoing tourists. Our findings suggest a expenditure residents goods. These results support inclusion trade-in-goods w hen estimating demand, adopting methodologies account relationship. Furthermore, there strong evidence trade-tourism link important both host countries.
