摘要: Despite the advent of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), HIV-associated neurological disorders (HAND) remain a major challenge in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) treatment. The early implementation HAART infected individuals helps suppress viral replication plasma and other compartments. Several studies also report beneficial effect drugs that successfully penetrate central nervous system (CNS). However, recent data both clinical setup vitro indicate CNS toxicity antiretrovirals (ARVs). Although evidence is limited, correlation between prolonged use ARVs neurotoxicity strongly suggests it essential to study underlying mechanisms responsible for such toxicity. Furthermore, closer attention toward outcomes required screen various ARV regimens their association with HAND comorbidities. A growing body literature indicates possible role accelerated aging therapy-associated neurotoxicity. Lastly, owing high pill burden, multiple HIV treatment invite drug–drug interaction via cytochrome P450 enzymes. particular emphasis this review highlight need identify alternative approaches reducing HIV-infected individuals.
