摘要: Abstract Two spheroidal graphite cast irons of the same composition (Fe 3.54 wt.%-C 2.48 wt.%-Si) and different nodule counts were surface hardened by plasma transferred arc remelting. They then eroded angular SiO 2 particles (∼295 μm grit size) under two average particle velocities including ∼36 ∼66 m s −1 . According to results, presence eutectic Fe 3 C in remelted layer can improve erosion resistance at oblique impact increasing flow resistance; but are also subjected brittle cracking large-angle impact. Hence, while shows larger improvement with content C, indicates that be achieved only when velocity properly restricted. Brittleness effect causes maximum rate occur angle for more C.
