Compliance with sequential compression device prophylaxis in at-risk trauma patients: a prospective analysis.

摘要: The Sequential Compression Device (SCD) is frequently the sole measure used to prevent deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in trauma patients. purpose of this study was evaluate compliance with physician orders for application SCD prophylaxis among nonambulatory patients at risk DVT. We conducted a prospective observational two Level I university-affiliated centers. Nonambulatory were observed during their early postadmission period non-critical care setting. Six observations made as proper applications 24-hour (two times morning shift, evening and overnight). "Full compliance" defined on functioning properly all six observations. In total 1343 227 only 42 (19%) fully compliant. devices 712 (53%) Among 185 who not compliant DVT factors common (83%) adjunctive heparin infrequent (27%). most "noncompliant" afternoon midmorning. On multivariate analysis spinal column injury correlated increased compliance. nearly half receiving per orders. Fewer than 20 cent had each period.
