摘要: The assumptions and predictions of metapopulation models for competing species are discussed in relation to empirical studies colonization extinction metapopulations. In three Daphnia rockpools, interspecific competition increased local rates, while no effects on rates were detected. Distributional patterns consistent with several the model; example, number an island pools proportion occupied by each decreased increasing number. It is concluded that important distributional dynamics but question whether coexistence these depends still unresolved. Other discussed.
