ROUNDABOUT DESIGN: A COMPARISON OF PRACTICE IN THE UK AND FRANCE

摘要: This paper compares the practice of roundabout design in UK and France. The point is made that, at present, exchange skills between France very limited. facts are mostly obtained from a literature review. change conventional weaving roundabouts to use off-side priority occurred 1963 UK, but about 20 years later multidisciplinary approach design, emphasised France, contrasted with experience. characteristics geometry signing compared, different priorities associated pedestrian facilities highlighted. British method determining entry capacity cannot be applied which uses simpler CETUR 86 method. chief dangers have been identified as excessive speed on approaches circulatory carriageway, solutions successful seem likely appropriate 'science' relatively recent.
