摘要: Abstract Objective To evaluate ultrasound's utility to detect difficult laryngoscopy in a preoperative setting. Methods This single-site, prospective, cross-sectional, within-subjects study was performed at Veterans Affairs Medical Center with 144 subjects. The sonographic independent variables included hyomental distance (HMD) and anterior neck thicknesses the hyoid bone (HB), thyrohyoid membrane (THM), vocal cords (VC). Additional were standard airway indicators of BMI, circumference, obstructive sleep apnea, snoring, abnormal upper teeth, jaw mobility, interincisor gap, Mallampati score, thyromental range motion. outcome variable modified Cormack-Lehane Grade (CLG). Results There no significance found among four measurements or their derived ratios predicting laryngoscopy. Correlation analysis between did find HMD:HB (p = 0.040) HB:THM (p = 0.44) ratios. However these had weak correlation at −0.172 and −0.168 respectively. Standard not demonstrate airway, sans obese patient circumference (p = 0.016). Discussion demonstrated ultrasonography lacked utility. Ultrasound utilization as an efficacious means assessment requires further research larger sample size. Further studies using sonography on those patients known airways may provide data determine if ultrasound has
