摘要: Anemia and undernutrition are common all over the world especially in less developed countries. The relationship between low weight short stature iron deficiency should be better understood so that appropriate measures might taken to prevent these problems. A total of 115 institutionalized children aged 12 72 months were studied day-care institutions town Pontal Southeastern Brazil during second semester 1999. Personal data height hematological profile obtained from subjects. Food intake was evaluated 20 by a direct food-weighing method. prevalence for age (2.6%) (1.7%) (4.3%) considered low. observed 68.7% children. Diet found adequate terms major nutrients but food supply bioavailability. In conclusion population revealed peculiar behavior i.e. coexistence fairly good anthropometric nutritional status along with iron-deficiency anemia. prevention this kind malnutrition cannot limited an calorie/protein also based on correction severe present socioeconomic level preschool Brazil.
