摘要: Objective: AIDS frequently associates with certain malignancies, including Kaposi's sarcoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), and anogenital neoplasia. In this study we aimed to define the frequency of infection by human herpesvirus (HHV)-8 throughout spectrum AIDS-related neoplasia in Europe. Design: A tumour panel representative distinct types neoplasms was tested for presence HHV-8 DNA sequences. Autologous uninvolved tissues were also selected cases. Methods: The sequences assayed a combination polymerase chain reaction followed oligohybridization Southern blot hybridization genomic an HHV-8-specific probe. Results: detected 100% sarcoma (all 35 cases). Among NHL, selectively clustered body-cavity-based lymphomas (BCBL; all three cases), although they consistently negative small non-cleaved cell (none 18 diffuse large seven), or anaplastic three). No found cases (out 14) Hodgkin's disease positive skin six patients, but not circulating lymphocytes BCBL patient. Positivity occurred patients belonging major risk categories. Conclusions: These data confirm that associate at high neoplasia, namely BCBL, are absent other AIDS-NHL
