News Analysis of the Fukushima Accident: Lack of Information Disclosure, Radiation Fears and Accountability Issues

摘要: Previous research assessed media reporting on nuclear accidents and risks, whilst studies about the Fukushima accident focused impact of Internet coverage incident. However, little has addressed news framing or comparisons perceptions journalists in relation to accidents. The aim this study is apply analysis content New York Times, Los Angeles USA Today accident. It explores question how view complex events. Content these three newspapers shows that conflict, responsibility, economic consequences were most frequently used frames. According interviewed, biggest problem was inability assess information due contrary positions held by experts. argued framed as a conflict experts officials’ opinions, utility government for United States. Adherence professional norms objectivity impartiality signified best approaches risk reporting.
