Partnership and collaboration in sport: a study in the context of the New Opportunities for PE and Sport programme in three English cities

摘要: Tett et al. (2003, p38) state that ‘themes of collaboration and partnership … are at the centre New Labour’s vision a modernised welfare state’. Concomitant with this government focus, quantity research on partnership has expanded rapidly. However, there have been few studies these types relationships in field PE, school and community sport. In order to begin address gap, study examined context New Opportunities PE Sport (NOPES) programme. The study was underpinned by variety theoretical concepts included those, such as policy networks, may be specifically related partnerships and collaboration as well others, governmentality, are more generic. Within three case specific local authority areas, interview data from stakeholders NOPES programme was combined with documentary evidence where available. Cross-case analysis identified a variety complex forms both within the NOPES itself its wider context. These different partnerships and collaborations all had an effect on policy process the respective but varied ways according their forms and agencies involved. As result findings, number of implications for future were identified. particular, it suggested more nuanced policy approach based understanding complexities should adopted. findings also stimulated suggestions development, especially networks concept, sport other policy areas.
