Cellulase-free xanthan gum and process for producing same

摘要: Intimate intermingling, as in a tumble reactor, of wet particulate xanthan gum, with either propylene oxide, β-propiolactone, glutaraldehyde or pivalolactone, essentially the only gas present, at about 40°-70° C., for from 1-5 hours, produces gum which cellulase enzyme is inactivated, but viscosity solutions increased; oxide removed to afford residual content not more than 300 ppm product gum.
