摘要: Background/Aims: Oxidative stress is presumed to play an important role in hepatic fibrogenesis. Diets high polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) enhance fibrosis and have been associated with increased oxidative damage some models of liver injury. The aim this study was determine the effects dietary fat varying PUFA content on iron-induced fibrosis. Methods: Rats were given parenteral iron diets supplemented coconut oil, safflower oil or menhaden oil. Results: Hepatic overload induction heme oxygenase-1, a sensitive indicator stress, modest increases hydroxyproline procollagen I mRNA levels without histologically evident fibrosis, all which unaffected by fat. In addition, loading cysteine, γ-glutamylcysteine glutathione. Dietary brought about expected alterations peroxidizability, but did not alter indices damage. Conclusion: These data highlight distinction between suggest that former sufficient elicit overt fibrosis. Furthermore, while leads there upregulation antioxidant defenses involving thiol metabolism may be critical factor limiting accumulation damage.
