摘要: A classic model proposes that the mammalian neocortex is divided into areas early in neurogenesis, but molecular mechanisms generate area map have been elusive. Here we provide evidence FGF8 regulates development of from a source anterior telencephalon. Using electroporation-mediated gene transfer mouse embryos, show augmenting endogenous signal shifts boundaries posteriorly, reducing them anteriorly, and introducing posterior elicits partial duplications, revealed by ectopic somatosensory barrel fields. These findings support role for FGF signaling specifying positional identity neocortex.
