摘要: Abstract The paper studies the addition of electric arc furnace stainless steel (EAF-SS) slag to clay raw materials for ceramic brick manufacturing in order get more sustainable without compromising their final properties. Different amounts (10 wt%, 20 wt% and 30 wt%) EAF-SS were added a reference material. samples processed by extrusion main technological properties determined characterize behavior during shaping drying processes (working moisture, linear shrinkage modulus rupture) sintered (bulk density, shrinkage, water absorption at five maximum temperatures (850, 900, 950, 1000 1050 °C). environmental impact was evaluated qualitatively analyzing gaseous emissions firing leaching tests on laboratory specimens. Furthermore, energy demand fuel (natural gas) required produce formulated compositions, according standard industrial scale, calculated both dryer kiln. Calculation CO2 such theoretical processing also performed. Results show that incorporation leads general adequate causes potential saving up 17% natural gas consumption reduction 24% with 30 wt% 950 °C. However, these higher metals would restrain content about 10 wt% or less sintering >950 °C. Therefore, ceramics incorporating composition can be technologically feasible environment-friendly depending temperature amount waste addition.
