Nanoparticle-Induced Packing Transition in Mesostructured Block Dendron−Silica Hybrids

摘要: Silica type nanostructured hybrid materials have been prepared by co-assembly of sol-gel and an extended amphiphilic dendron consisting a hydrophilic aliphatic polyether block hydrophobic docosyl chains. As confirmed small- wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS WAXS) experiments, the preparation method employing simple solvent evaporation resulted in macroscopically oriented lamellar structures which groups crystallize normal to plane. Contrary bilayer crystalline structure parent dendron, hybrids show morphologies with interdigitated monolayer packing groups. This unusual structural transformation upon adding sol nanoparticles can be explained alleviating interfacial steric barrier for linear polyethers.
