摘要: Deformation of a model particulate reinforced metal-matrix composite is studied over strain rates ranging from 10−3 to 105/s in compression and 103 103/s tension. The material 2014 aluminum alloy with alumina reinforcement 10 20 volume percent. Tests are also performed on provide baseline for comparison. Micromechanical models used predict response. All tested specimens examined via scanning transmission electron microscopy characterize the differences microstructural evolution failure modes.
