摘要: A death certificate-based surveillance system was used to identify 2144 work-related motor vehicle fatalities among civilian workers in the United States construction industry over years 1980-92. Construction were twice as likely be killed by a average worker, with an annual crude mortality rate of 2.3/100,000 workers. Injury prevention efforts have had limited effect on vehicle-related deaths, rates falling only 11% during 13-year period, compared 43% for falls, 54% electrocutions and 48% machinery. In all industries combined, fatality dropped 47%. The largest proportion deaths (40%) occurred pedestrians, accounting more than one-fourth pedestrian deaths. minimum 54 (6%) these flaggers or surveyors. Flaggers accounted half 34 women, 3% men. Along previous studies recent trends amount type road construction, results underscore need better traffic control management work areas reduce fatalities. As second leading cause traumatic share 15% total exceeded research should become greater priority industry.
