摘要: Plants can be genetically engineered for virus resistance by transformation with a viral gene. We transformed tobacco the tomato spotted wilt (TSWV) nucleocapsid gene from Hawaiian L isolate in order to obtain TSWV resistant breeding lines. Doubled-haploid lines were produced primary transgenic plants that selected virus. Several of these showed very high levels and symptomless after inoculation TSWV. The accumulation only low full-length transgene RNA protein observed is consistent an RNA-mediated mechanism resistance. highly also found several other isolates TSWV, while moderately often susceptible isolates. advanced over generations self-pollination. Although fully homozygous, lost later generations, indicating was unstable. Selection unstable did not prevent occurrence progeny subsequent generations. Therefore, testing required determine stability when crops
