摘要: We quantified the effects of invasive Phragmites australis on estuarine faunal communities using meta-analysis to compare invaded uninvaded marshes and then evaluated whether ecological restoration could reverse those effects. Relative marshes, quantity condition fauna in was significantly poorer. detected negative impacts residing mid-Atlantic but not New England utilizing marsh surface inhabiting tidal creeks. By taxonomic group, we found that invasion negatively affected nekton invertebrates. Both adult sub-adult were adversely affected, although magnitude effect sub-adults four times greater than for adults. Our results indicate within region largely drove overall results. When restored compared there no significant differences across all metrics assessed, suggesting reversed. A separate qualitative review trophic data indicated benthic microalgae dominant vascular plants are important primary producers at base food web uninvaded, invaded, salt importance diet decreased highly systems due light, potentially reducing energy availability. analyses revealed while by P. australis, vary region, habitat, life history stage can long-term over relatively short time scales.
