摘要: While advances in agricultural research and development have led to generation of improved new cooking hybrid banana varieties (HBVs) with enhanced yield potential restore production levels, these been received mixed feelings on consumption attributes among the farming communities Uganda. Some farmers prefer HBVs that are comparable their local terms such as soft food, color when cooked, flavor taste while others high-yielding produce surplus output for sale. Using cross-sectional survey data from 242 randomly selected smallholder Nakaseke Luwero districts Central Uganda, study applied a Tobit regression model analyze influence socio-economic factors variety adoption bananas. The results perception showed had desirable production-related attributes, cultivars were rated superior hybrids consumption-related attributes. Evidence further influenced farmers’ decisions HBVs. Further, an assessment education farmer, household size, interaction different actors, experience (number years growing HBVs), source planting materials significant findings provide insights into need initiatives target multi-traits meet end-users’ preferences needs. Facilitating establishment multi-actor platforms bring together actors share information learn might be useful increasing intensity adoption.
