摘要: Social interactions between adult male and immature chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) have been understudied compared to those mothers their offspring. This study’s aim was gain a better understanding of such relationships among population wild West African (P. t. verus). Although overall rates affiliation males immatures were low, low-ranking engaged in significantly more than higher ranking males. Additionally, tended favor the offspring certain females, although this difference not statistically significant. It has suggested that care many primate species may serve as mating strategy. Unlike who engage displays, increase ‘attractiveness’ females by demonstrating abilities care-givers. hypothesis explain findings current study; chimpanzee direct affiliative behavior towards infants juveniles reproductive benefits.
