摘要: Summary Fire is a common phenomenon in grasslands but there little experimental evidence of the mechanism involved rapid recovery plant growth. We tested under controlled conditions hypothesis that after fire Spartina argentinensis leaves restart growing have high photosynthetic rates. Photosynthetic rates and emergence culms were registered. Initial higher among plants which restarted growth or clipping than control ones, without effect different water availability. High rate values remained during two months treatments though then affected by availability, thereafter started declining towards end season. From January onwards no differences detected except stress had lower all others. Leaf culm promoted both treatments. Though affect-ed burned clipped highest percentages living tissues at experiment. Considering responses it can be concluded burning regular component subtropical-temperate S. habitat, South American grasslands.
