摘要: We consider the approximation of depth-averaged two-dimensional shallow water equations by both a traditional continuous Galerkin (CG) finite element method as well two discontinuous (DG) approaches. The DG is locally conservative, flux-continuous on each edge, and suitable for smooth highly advective flows. A novel technique coupling continuity with CG momentum developed. This formulation described in detail validation via numerical testing presented. Comparisons between widely used approach, conventional method, coupled discontinuous–continuous illustrates advantages disadvantages accuracy efficiency. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
