摘要: BACKGROUND: Dental practitioners have a key role in the quality of life and prevention occupational accidents workers with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS). AIM: The aim this study was to review impact OSAS, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy, evidence regarding use oral appliances (OA) on health safety workers. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Searches were conducted MEDLINE (PubMed), Lilacs Sci ELO. Articles published from January 1980 June 2014 included. RESULTS: research retrieved 2188 articles 99 met inclusion criteria. An increase due reduced vigilance attention snorers patients OSAS observed. Such involvements related excessive daytime sleepiness neurocognitive function impairments. OA are less effective when compared CPAP, but results cognitive performance showed improvements similar CPAP. Treatments greater patient compliance than CPAP therapy. CONCLUSION: is prevalent disorder among workers, leads increased risk accidents, has significant economy. therapy reduces accidents. can improve work performance; there no scientific associating its reduction. Future should focus determining cost-effectiveness as well influence efficacy preventing Language: en
