摘要: Abstract We investigate the influence of filler particles on phase stability a model blend polystyrene (PS) and polybutadiene (PB). The upper critical solution temperature cloud point curve PS:PB is “destabilized” (upward shift temperature) by addition untreated fumed silica particles. Preliminary measurements surface-functionalized were also performed. A small downward was observed functionalizing with grafted chains, while grafting silane coupling agent resulted in large apparent “stabilization” effect or decrease temperature. (Further over range polymer compositions are required to determine concentration dependence temperature.) Surface treatments selected demonstrate that modifying particle surface chemistry can alter boundary. These boundary shifts have significance commercial blends containing dispersions
