摘要: Abstract Using Ehrlich ascites tumor cells in culture, we have examined the effects that changes composition of medium exert on state and activity protein-synthesizing apparatus cells. During 24-hour interval between additions fresh to cultures, glucose was found be completely utilized glutamine appreciably diminished. After addition essential amino acids such depleted a 3-fold increase synthesis per cell observed. This increase, which occurred over several hour period, due shift single ribosomes into polyribosomes an synthesizing polyribosomes. As became exhausted from after about 15 hours, reversal these began. These findings indicate nutritional factors modulate rate through mechanisms, substrate limitation, operating at translational level. Both peptide chain initiation elongation are influenced, probably independently.
