摘要: Southeast Asians have higher rates of liver cancer than any other racial/ethnic group in the United States. Chronic carriage hepatitis B virus (HBV) is most common underlying cause majority Asian populations. Our objectives were to describe Vietnamese Americans’ awareness B, levels HBV testing, and knowledge about transmission; compare practices men women. A community-based, in-person survey women was conducted Seattle during 2002. Seven hundred fifteen individuals (345 370 women) completed questionnaire. Eighty-one percent respondents had heard (76% men, 86% 67% reported testing (66% 68% women). participants knew that can be transmitted sexual intercourse (71% women), by sharing toothbrushes (67% 77% razors (59% Less one-half not spread eating food prepared an infected person (46% 27% nor coughing (39% 25% One-third our did recall being tested for HBV. Important deficits routes transmission identified. Continued efforts should made develop implement educational campaigns immigrant communities. These might tailored male female audiences.
