摘要: A useful and necessary step to understand the complexity of catalysis is first study simple prototype systems which involve elements active in such reactions. Studies throwing light on gas–metal interaction are vital importance. The X-ray absorption spectroscopy can provide information for as one probes system a very local scale. We present state art surface EXAFS measurements carbon, nitrogen oxygen adsorbed well characterised metal surfaces (Ni Cu). contribution highlights from experimental supported by improved theoretical calculations that temperature angular dependent studies essential reliable structural analysis gain an insight into absorbate–substrate bonding kinetics. low Z were found suitable detect unambiguously photoelectron backscattering interstitial charge densities.
