摘要: There are competing visions for what future low-carbon energy systems might look like. However, it is likely that consumers will be more actively involved in managing their use. Consequently, there to some disruption the current rhythm of everyday domestic social practices. This paper considers we can learn from people who already take a active role supply, with aim identifying transferable lessons that could applied system decentralization. We compare two case studies focused on different levels grid connectivity - living off-grid narrowboats and in semi-grid connected houses rural Norfolk. find where had constraints use, they responded three main ways. First, they diversified supplies, including adopting traditional fuels such as coal wood. Second, planned, monitored shifted responding ways favorable micro-generation demand-side response. Third, curtailed propose that UK households may respond similar ways decentralized energy. Finally consider implications our findings policy aimed at decentralizing production supply.
