摘要: In this study, we used 21 microsatellite loci to establish the reproductive success of wood bison (Bison athabascae) population at Elk Island National Park, Alberta, Canada. Wood are considered threatened in Canada, and is currently found new populations. Despite low levels genetic variation population, were able paternity 253 maternity 295 317 calves born Park over 4-year study period. Roughly 40% mature males reproductively successful each year. Mature produced a mean 3.8 offspring period, with range 024. Each year, approximately 5070% cows calves, 2.7 Multiple linear regressions performed determine effects age, mass, heterozygosity, prior success, year conception on male female success. Only mass useful predicting reprodu...
