摘要: When artificial hip or knee joints are implanted in the human body, they release metallic, ceramic, and polymeric debris into surrounding tissues. The toxicity of released particles is two types: chemical, caused by soluble ions monomers, mechanical, a result mechanical stimulation produced insoluble particles. In this study, cytotoxicity TiO2, Al2O3, ZrO2, Si3N4, SiC for murine fibroblasts macrophages were examined to evaluate just their because these not expected metal ions. Different sizes shapes TiO2 used effect size shape on particle cytotoxicity. results suggest that ceramic does depend chemical species. Cytotoxicity levels lower than those corresponding ions, indicating monomers. differences did affect dendritic had higher level spindle spheric
