摘要: Abstract Seven isolates of Candida stellatoidea were studied for their electrophoretic karyotype, virulence mice, sensitivity to UV radiation, growth rate in vitro, reaction on cycloheximide-indicator medium, and proteinase activity. The exhibited one two distinct karyotypes as determined by orthogonal field alternating gel electrophoresis (OFAGE). Four isolates, including the type culture C. stellatoidea, belonged karyotype I OFAGE, showing eight nine bands which at least less than 1,000 kilobases size estimated comparison with DNA Saccharomyces cerevisiae. These failed produce fatal infection mice within 20 days when 5 X 10(5) cells injected intravenously. yeasts cleared from kidneys three tested day 30. Type showed activity bovine serum albumin agar pH 3.8 produced a negative cycloheximide-bromcresol green medium 48 h. grouped II OFAGE banding patterns similar those well-characterized isolate albicans. had an six seven approximately 1,200 or greater size. All highly virulent producing fatality curves previously albicans isolate. From 80 90% intravenously died days. positive no low pH. In addition, grew faster significantly more resistant irradiation isolates. results indicated that II, but not I, can be considered simply sucrose-negative
