摘要: Abstract The paper introduces an alternative optical-based methodology allowing to investigate a liquid spreading process inside packed beds. In particular it allows determining the boundary between wetted and dry region packing section. Due optical nature of approach can be applied only when both column its internals are made transparent materials. proposed experimental procedure has been used distribution bed composed 6 mm Raschig rings glass. Distilled water was adopted as flowing medium injected into from source point. obtained results allowed performing qualitative assessment contact distance (required for reach wall) volume function Reynolds number. experiment also supplemented with measurements holdup performed use two different methods.
