摘要: A simplified, quantitative electroencephalographic (QEEG) technique and apparatus for testing assessing individuals Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is described. The simplified procedure consistent with emerging neuroanatomical models of the etiology ADHD, makes affordable to public, allows practitioners conduct on an outpatient basis within their offices. process comprises a new scanning method that obtains EEG data from electrode placed at single, active cranial site (Cz, vertex). Multiple short periods (90 seconds) digitized are obtained. electrophysiological power in two frequency bands (theta: 4-8 Hz; beta: 13-21 Hz) examined. computer programmed capacity Fast Fourier Transformation selects statistically analyzes these specific bands. baseline neurometric index obtained by calculating ratio recorded theta band beta while individual maintains eyes open, fixed gaze. Thereafter, being tested ADHD evaluated under conditions requiring attentive behavior (reading, listening, drawing). theta/beta calculated each tasks. Finally, average ratios across baseline, reading, listening drawing tasks Attentional Index compared database through evaluations normative sample not having or any other neurological disorder. assessment presence severity determined this comparison.
