摘要: AbstractThe European snow vole (Chionomys nivalis) is a microtine rodent with highly fragmented distribution range, mostly associated the main mountain systems from southern Europe to Turkmenistan. In this paper we confirm occurrence of in Portugal, based on morphological characteristics, biometrics and genetic analysis two individuals captured Montesinho Mountain range (northeastern Portugal). Both mitochondrial nuclear markers were used species identity. The cytochrome b supports previous conclusions phylogeographic structure species, revealing existence several distinct lineages. Moreover, it shows that Portuguese specimens are closely related other Iberian populations. This finding great interest as adds new information regarding spatial vole, by redefining southwestern limits species’ highlights need for accurate assessment reg...
