摘要: When it comes to social aspects of our knowledge-generating practices, history and philosophy science seem starkly opposed. I argue that this opposition stems from an assumption normative/descriptive dualism. This dualism polarizes the study scientific inquiry into two mutually exclusive, yet co-dependent, projects: description actual practices their results, or abstract examination epistemic ideals detached practices. If we must choose between describing historical unfolding elaborating ideals, integrated epistemology is precluded. show can be overcome, by explicating a conception ideal objectivity both normative engaged with experimental inquiry. It thus first step toward inquiry, elaborated further philosophical study.
