摘要: The goal of this study was to identify whether Pacific hagfish (Eptatretus stoutii) possess glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid responses examine the potential role(s) four key steroids in these responses. were injected with varying amounts cortisol, corticosterone or 11-deoxycorticosterone (DOC) using coconut oil implants plasma glucose gill total-ATPase activity monitored as indices Furthermore, we also 11-deoxycortisol (11-DOC) levels following exhaustive stress (30 min agitation) repeated infusion SO42-. There no changes implantation any steroid, only very small statistical increases noted implanted either DOC (at 20 200mgkg-1 at 7 4days post-injection, respectively) 100mgkg-1 7days post-injection). Following stress, displayed a large sustained increase glucose. Repeated SO42- into caused both excretion rate suggesting regulated response. However, animals under condition did not show significant 11-DOC concentrations. Our results suggest that while there are active hagfish, does appear be involved identity primary function steroid remains elucidated.
