摘要: Background: Guanosine (G)-rich DNA and RNA sequences can adopt a defined secondary structure, the G-quadruplex, which consists of multiple stacked G-tetrads. Each G-tetrad has four Gs arranged in planar configuration held together by hydrogen bonding. G-quadruplexes are found chromosomal transcripts, particularly telomeric sequences, regulatory regions many genes including oncogenes.Purpose: This review summarizes how be employed for anticancer therapies discusses possible mechanisms. Methods: The Medline database was searched using terms “G-rich oligonucleotide (GRO)”, “G-tetrad”, “G-quadruplex”.Results: Drugs bind to stabilize suppress elongation telomers gene transcription translation oncogenes. G-quadruplex stabilization results senescence apoptosis cancer cells. Besides long-chain nucleic acids, also GRO able acquire conformation build up ...
