摘要: Objective. To investigate the serum levels of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) in patients with fibromyalgia (FM) compared to healthy controls and other rheumatic diseases, explore possible etiologic mechanisms low IGF-I FM. Methods. Five hundred FM 152 (74 blood donors, 26 myofascial pain 52 diseases) were studied. All had measurements acid extracted IGF-I. A subset 90 evaluated for clinical features that might explain levels. Twenty-five underwent hormone (GH) provocation testing 1-dopa clonidine. Results. The mean level was 138 ± 56 ng/ml 215 86 (p = 0.00000000001). Low not due depression, tricyclic medications, nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs, poor aerobic conditioning, obesity, or level. Patients focal syndromes normal (236 68), as did most disorders, unless they concomitant initially often a rapid decline over 1 2 years. Most failed secrete GH after stimulation clonidine I-dopa. Conclusion. Many, but all, have cannot be explained by associations. These results suggest are secondary phenomenon hypothalamic-pituitary-GH axis dysfunction.
